"For 3 years I stopped going to the gym because of a knee injury and because I was told by my physiotherapist and by my doctor that I could never go to the gym again. In the meantime I was constantly in pain, my knee was always sore plus I had put on about 10 kilos! I was unhappy, wanted the pain to go away and wanted to be fit again. So I found Derek... his mannerism immediately put me at ease but most of all he gave me hope that "we" were going to fix my knee. 'I have been training with Derek for over 5 years now. In that time I have gone from being a former rugby player who needed to do something to stay fit to being much more demanding and specific about training as I have taken up running half marathons. In that time I have made huge progress with my running as Derek has tailored a programme to suit my goals, provided a large amount of encouragement and given me a tremendous sense of wellbeing. The sessions are great fun, never stale and Derek is always mixing exercises up and drawing on new training ideas and current thinking.

'Derek was my personal trainer for nearly 4 years - I would have kept him on had I not moved away to Cornwall! He is a highly personable man, dedicated to his work - to your well-being and fitness. Lovely to talk to - understanding when you may not perform so well and supportive when you do. Definitely not one of these shouty PTs. He is a lovely man and I would highly recommend to anyone - in fact I already did as I had a friend who took my slots when I went on holiday. Much more than just your usual Personal Trainer - Derek has many skills and tricks for keeping sessions interesting and your fitness developing. I certainly miss our weekly training sessions. I honestly cannot recommend highly enough'.
